Focusing on the Eastern Townships of Quebec, J.I. Little examines the unique religious landscape that shaped English-Canadian identity during the settlement period. Unlike the radical evangelical movements in New England, the region saw the dominance of British-based denominations like the Church of England and Wesleyan Methodist Society. This study reverses typical borderlands analysis by exploring how a shared culture diverged across an international boundary, highlighting the overlooked history of Protestantism in Quebec and the differing religious perspectives of Canadians and Americans.
