A documented shortage of technical leadership in computer science threatens national competitiveness and economic stability. The decline in producing computer scientists at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels has prompted companies to reassess the importance of cognitive skills for high-level performance. This study investigates the critical-thinking skills of top performers and their correlation with traditional academic measures. Findings highlight the necessity of enhancing critical-thinking abilities within the undergraduate computer science curriculum to meet the demand for skilled professionals.
