Ethnoregional Conflict in Democracies

Focusing on ethnoregional conflicts, this study analyzes seven regions—Scotland, Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels, Quebec, Northern Ireland, and the Basque region of Spain. It explores factors influencing electoral support for ethnoregional parties, the coexistence of electoral conflict and ethnic violence, and the surprising inverse relationship between electoral success and policy effectiveness among these parties. With ongoing ethnic tensions globally, this work is essential for scholars and students in comparative politics and ethnic studies.
