Focusing on the spatial distribution of Frankish settlements during the Crusades, this study presents a groundbreaking field analysis of over two hundred rural sites. The author challenges conventional scholarship by proposing a new model that views the Franks as migrants who established connections with Eastern Christians while remaining largely isolated from the Muslim communities around them. This fresh perspective sheds light on the complexities of Frankish society in the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem.
