His acclaimed plays include "The Roaring Girl" and "A Chaste Maid in Cheapside." Notably, his allegory "A Game at Chess" faced censorship after just nine performances due to its political content. Middleton's career spanned various genres, and he was appointed London chronologer before his death in 1627.
