The Frauenkirche in Dresden, renowned as one of the finest baroque churches, has a rich history marked by its completion in 1743 and subsequent destruction during World War II. The church's ruins, which stood for decades, became a poignant reminder of the war's devastation, particularly after the bombing that claimed around 100,000 lives. Its reconstruction from 1994 to 2005 emerged from a civilian initiative, symbolizing reconciliation and peace, and restoring a significant cultural landmark to the city known as the Florence of the Elbe.
