Focusing on the ecological challenges faced by the lakes in the Nainital region, this research evaluates the impact of urbanization on water quality and conservation efforts. It assesses various factors, including water quality parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen, and contaminants, comparing them with historical data. A water quality index was developed to gauge the lakes' health, revealing improvements in dissolved oxygen levels. The study highlights both successes and areas needing further attention in conservation initiatives, emphasizing the importance of ongoing efforts for sustainability.
