The book examines the influence of the European Court for Human Rights on Russia's actions during the Chechen conflict. It reveals that while the ECtHR has established some authority over Russia's strategic behavior, its ability to effect positive change is limited. The research challenges Sweet's theory of judicialization as a form of socialization, highlighting that instead of engaging constructively with the Court, Russia is increasingly framing its discourse in a securitized manner, particularly in response to its rising number of lost cases in Strasbourg.
