Exploring the complex interplay of identity and perception, this book delves into how an individual can be labeled a terrorist by the Tajik state while simultaneously being viewed as a mujahid fighter and a family member. Utilizing existential anthropology, it examines the meanings of jihad, mujahid, and terrorism during the 2010 military intervention in Tajikistan. Through ethnographic research, pamphlets, and internet analysis, it sheds light on the struggles of Tajikistan's people to navigate their place in the global Muslim community post-Soviet Union.
