Naturalist in the The Life and Early Writings of Alfred Russel Wallace is the story of the great naturalist from his beginnings on the Amazon in 1848 to the end of his work in the Malay Archipelago in 1862. The biography includes key articles by Wallace concerning exploration and biological theory, as well as the major 1855 article on species formation and the 1858 paper that led to the joint announcement, with Charles Darwin, of the theory of evolution through natural selection.
