A collection of short stories about an idyllic childhood in 1960s Chico, California. Growing up in a small Northern California town insulated Dave Delgardo and his pals from the events of what became a generation's defining decade. Vietnam, race riots and Nixon took a backseat to tree forts and tire swings, bicycle and canoe outings, bonfires on starry nights, and a young-love crush or two. The tumult of the 1960s was not far away but, perhaps, just far enough.
