Thirteen-year-old Johnny Merrimon once had a perfect life, filled with love and a close bond with his twin sister, Alyssa. Despite the skepticism, Johnny is determined to find her, driven by an inexplicable confidence in her survival. His quest leads him into the dark underbelly of his hometown, where he faces danger and despair. Detective Clyde Hunt, who has also been searching for Alyssa, tries to protect Johnny but finds himself compelled to intervene when Johnny uncovers a risky lead. As a second child goes missing, Johnny, undeterred by threats and pleas from his mother, teams up with his last friend to venture into the wilderness. Their journey takes them to a forgotten place steeped in violence, where they encounter a giant man—an escaped convict on his own tragic mission. The revelations they uncover will shatter Johnny's beliefs about his sister's fate and lead them to a profound truth that tests their resilience. Navigating the wilderness between innocence and hard wisdom, the story showcases John Hart's unique narrative power.
