As a nine-year-old boy, Bertrand Piccard stood in Cape Kennedy and watched the launch of the Apollo mission. Since then, he knew what he wanted: to see the world from above. He tried to fulfill the dream of flying in all its forms. With an ultralight aircraft, as a parachutist, as a paraglider, he conquered the sky—until he finally found the perfect way to satisfy his longing: ballooning. His father Jacques and his grandfather Auguste were already world-famous adventurers who reached the limits of the biosphere in the sea and in the air.
