During the 1960s and 1970s labour market behaviour was at the heart of the major theoretical debates and to a large extent, labour market polices displaced demand management policies at the centre of the British government's strategies. These developments have generated much research and this text considers what we have learnt about these two areas. used as a textbook for courses in labour economics, with each chapter providing a review of both theoretical developments and associated empirical studies.
