However, no charges were filed against them, and they even received significant damages for the destruction of the club. Victims and their families have long contended that the inquiry was insufficient. Key questions remain: What caused the rapid spread of the flames? Were fire exits secured? Why were there bars on restroom windows? Despite multiple inspections by Dublin Corporation, the owners evaded accountability for numerous safety violations. As the twenty-first anniversary of the tragedy approaches, new evidence challenges the original conclusion of "probable" arson.
