Neil Gaiman, celým menom Neil Richard MacKinnon Gaiman (* 10. november 1960, Portchester, Spojené kráľovstvo) je britský spisovateľ so zameraním na sci-fi a fantasy.
Pod ulicami Londýna sa rozprestiera svet, o ktorom väčšina z nás nikdy nepočula. Je to svet príšer, svätcov, vrahov a anjelov, rytierov v lesklej zbroji aj bledých diev v čiernom zamate. Svet tých, ktorí doň prepadli štrbinami z nášho, horného sveta. Richard Mayhew žil ako celkom obyčajný človek, až kým nezachránil dievča, čo sa pred ním zrazu objavilo zranené na ulici. Ani sa nenazdal a ocitol sa vo svete, o akom sa mu nesnívalo v najhorších – a ani najlepších – snoch.

Jedlo je lepšie ako doma a škatuľa s hračkami je plná lietajúcich anjelikov a lebiek dinosaurov s cvakajúcimi zubami. No po chvíli sa ukáže, že tento druhý svet je v skutočnosti desivý. Druhá matka a druhý otec vyžadujú, aby zostala s nimi a stala sa ich malým dievčatkom. Chcú ju zmeniť a už nikdy nepustiť. Koralína bude musieť bojovať, aby sa mohla vrátiť do bežného života a zachránila nielen seba, ale aj svojich rodičov.
Neil Gaiman sa pri písaní už dlho inšpiruje dávnymi príbehmi a mýtmi. Pri tejto knihe však obrátil pozornosť priamo na ich zdroj a bravúrne spracoval veľké ságy ďalekého severu. Navyše ho varuje pred prichádzajúcou búrkou – bojom o Ameriku.
Neil Gaiman píše komiksové scenáre, poviedky aj romány. V slovenčine vyšli jeho knihy Americkí bohovia a Oceán na konci ulice. V románe Anansiho chlapci sa čitatelia znovu stretnú s pánom Nancym Anansim. Toho už poznajú z Amerických bohov, a je to skôr bôžik než boh, a navyše neplecha, sukničkár, pijan a lenivec. Anansi sa v tomto príbehu stretne so svojimi dvoma potomkami, a to s Tučniakom Charliem, nesmelým a nepriebojným chlapíkom, a s jeho bratom Pavúkom, ktorý zdedil všetky otcove božské schopnosti aj necnosti. Pavúk neznesiteľným spôsobom zasahuje Tučniakovi Charliemu do života a komplikuje ho, preberie mu snúbenicu, ba spôsobí trestné stíhanie. Preto sa Tučniak Charlie rozhodne, že sa otravného bračeka zbaví, a ponúkne ho vtáčej žene. A od tej chvíle sa všetky vtáky na svete usilujú zmárniť nielen Pavúka, ale aj Tučniaka Charlieho, ktorý musí spojiť sily s bratom, aby sa obaja zachránili.
