Based on the author's own experiences in the 1930's on the Spanish island of Mallorca in the years just prior to the Spanish Civil War, Vigoleis and Beatrice, pursued by Nazis and Francoists, embark on a series of unpredictable and surreal adventures in order to survive. The story is picaresque, the style ironic. the writing is rich, intense and entirely original.
