Fritz, a little mouse, discovers that his family's oak tree is set to be cut down for a new road. Concerned, his great-grandfather Balthazar consults Big Cloud, the tree spirit, who enlists the help of the wise owl Lou. Distressed by the impending destruction, Lou and the nearby tree spirits, along with local animals, unite in a quest to save their home. The story explores themes of environmental conservation and community action as they strive to prevent the roadwork and protect their beloved oak.
