Abby Graven leads a solitary life. Once on the cusp of a promising art career, she lives in her childhood home and works at a supermarket. Each day, the magazine racks taunt her with the success of her former best friend Elise, a rising Hollywood starlet whose life Abby scrapbooks. Encountering her at their high school reunion, Abby is surprised and warmed that Elise considers her not only a friend but a brilliant storyteller and true artist. When Elise says to look her up if she's ever in LA, Abby arrives on her doorstep.
