Sunny, the protagonist in this third installment of a critically acclaimed series, strives to shine despite his troubled past. He is one of four kids from diverse backgrounds on an elite middle school track team aiming for the Junior Olympics. Each has much to prove, both to themselves and to each other. Sunny stands out with his goofy smile and laid-back demeanor, but his life is far from perfect. Sunny feels he can only earn his dad's approval through running, despite his lack of passion for it. In a moment of defiance, he stops running mid-race, worsening his relationship with his father and leaving his friends behind. Coach prompts him to express his true desires, leading Sunny to reveal his love for dance. However, dancing and track don't mix. In a moment of inspiration, Sunny discovers the discus throw—a sport that merges the rhythm of hip-hop, the precision of ballet, and the flair of dance. As he practices, he learns to let go of his burdens, potentially finding a path to healing just in time.
