Four high school friends, remarkably different, are attached by a common bond growing up in rural America in the generation of Baby Boomers. The book follows Matt, the farmer's son, Manny, a newcomer with a tendency to turn red in the face, Jane, the cool-headed, clever girl and Sax, the joker, who affixes nicknames to everyone. The friends evolve with successful careers as varied and unpredictable as their personalities. Their interactions in later life are framed by world-wide travel, spirited conversations and a playful use of language.Then life offers a sparkling final surprise for at least two of our heroes, but moreover, for the reader! Four Pegs delves into the characters' search for personal meaning, as if finding four pegs with which to erect a tent against the harsh elements of life. A search that we all share!
