Alexis Gold excels as a working mom, but lately, she’s struggled with the mom part. After opening her own advertising agency three years ago, she has sacrificed work/life balance, relying on her supportive partner, Tommy, who handles most household responsibilities, especially with their teenage daughter, CeCe. Their lives are upended when Tommy receives a terminal cancer diagnosis, prompting Alexis to reassess her priorities. Realizing that her achievements mean little without him, she decides to prioritize Tommy, fulfilling his wish for one last summer together at their beach. This choice complicates matters, as it brings them closer to Tommy's ex, an actress CeCe admires. Meanwhile, CeCe grapples with her feelings about her father's illness and the impending loss of the person she relies on most. As she experiences the excitement of first love, CeCe becomes determined to protect that joy from her mother’s influence. Alexis, facing the dual challenges of losing Tommy and managing CeCe’s rebellious behavior, understands that the hardest battle may be convincing her daughter to give her one more chance.
