Focusing on the representation of childhood in Indian literature, this work critically analyzes children's novels published in India from 1988 to 2008. It examines how Indian writers depict childhood in the context of national identity, cultural heritage, and gender, particularly Indian girlhood. Utilizing postcolonial and feminist frameworks, the author contrasts these narratives with those from the UK and North America, exploring the differing ideologies and textual constructions of childhood prevalent in each region during the same timeframe.
