Set against the backdrop of a sexually repressed Ireland, the story follows Sebastian Conyers, a young professor whose naivety about sex leads to humorous and awkward encounters. At twenty-one, he confuses anatomy with botany, and his first experiences are clumsy and chaotic. Despite his self-identification as an accidental philanderer, others view him as a womanizer and narcissist. The narrative explores themes of sexuality, identity, and the complexities of relationships through Sebastian's misadventures in the conference circuit.
