Set in the tumultuous summer of 2005, the story follows Seattle resident Justin Raines, who, motivated by a desire to improve the world, partners with his friend Shelby Mirabeau to create a new religion centered on personal responsibility. Their initial efforts falter, leading to an unexpected alliance with Matthias Bender, a figure embodying the darker side of capitalism. This partnership transforms their vision into a corporate religion, raising questions about faith, responsibility, and the commercialization of belief.
