Set against the backdrop of the Oregon Trail during the Mexican War of 1848, the story follows Francis Tucket and his adopted siblings, Lottie and Billy, as they search for his parents. When winter approaches, they divert south, inadvertently entering dangerous territory. Captured by desperadoes, they must rely on their loyalty and courage, along with a surprising twist, to navigate their perilous situation and strive for survival.
