The narrative centers on a desperate mother, Miriam, who is overwhelmed by her child’s illness. Urbabele believes that the child's life should be saved, asserting that it is not God's will for her to die, and urges Miriam to seek help from a revered rabbi in Sadagóra. Despite her fears of leaving her sick child, the old woman and a supportive neighbor offer to care for the child, emphasizing the importance of faith and community in times of crisis.
