The story follows a 14-year-old Trinidadian girl grappling with clinical depression and the aftermath of a suicide attempt, as she is sent to Canada to live with her aunt. Struggling with loneliness and cultural shame over her aunt's sexuality, she finds solace in a budding friendship with a boy and her best friend via Skype. As she navigates her new environment and begins to accept her family and mental health, her mother's arrival poses a threat to her newfound stability, raising questions about identity and belonging.
