The story follows Tony Macucci, a powerful yet morally ambiguous figure in the music industry, tasked with reviving the career of washed-up singer Dave McGuinn. To secure his position, Macucci devises a plan to orchestrate a hit on McGuinn, aiming to propel the singer's old song "American Sky" to the top of the charts. However, as he grows to admire McGuinn, he finds it increasingly challenging to abandon his deadly scheme, leading to unexpected moral dilemmas and conflicts.
