Set in 73 BC, the story follows Kleon, a Greek slave who escapes after killing his master, armed with Plato's Republic. His journey leads him to Capua to join Spartacus, an escaped gladiator, as they form a rebel army against Roman oppression. Together with a diverse group of fugitives and outcasts, they aim to overthrow their captors and forge a society free from slavery. However, they face the relentless pursuit of Roman legions determined to quash their uprising.
