Struggling screenwriter Winfield Payton finds himself in a precarious situation as he juggles his new girlfriend's unconventional interests and a financially desperate job at a predominantly black savings and loan. As the only white employee, he adopts a Mafioso persona to gain investor confidence while navigating the complexities of diverse social dynamics. His attempts to balance these contrasting worlds lead to increasingly precarious situations, culminating in a dramatic downfall that explores themes of identity and societal expectations.
