A Study of the Secondary Headteachers in Rural China

Focusing on the lives of secondary head teachers in Chuxiong, Yunan Province, this book utilizes a qualitative research approach, drawing on established theoretical frameworks. It explores a career pathway model that includes stages from formation to reinvention, confirming the applicability of Western educational theories in a Chinese context. Key issues identified include the appointment, support, and training of head teachers, as well as gender and personnel policies. The findings suggest that significant reforms are necessary to enhance the quality of schooling in China.
