The story follows Jude Keffy-Horn, a troubled youth shaped by his adoption into a hippie family and the tragic loss of his best friend, Teddy. After moving in with his father in New York's East Village, he discovers the straight edge movement, which promotes a drug-free lifestyle. Alongside Teddy's half-brother Johnny and new friend Eliza, Jude seeks to honor Teddy's memory but faces the complexities of addiction to this new lifestyle. The narrative explores the generational clash between the teens' radical choices and their parents' struggles with their pasts and the evolving definitions of life and loss.
