The study examines biases in public preschool education, revealing that teachers often hold different expectations based on students' race, gender, or social class. This leads to a focus on basic skills rather than fostering deeper understanding and engagement. Both teachers treated Black students similarly, neglecting their individual competencies and experiences, which hindered their literacy and numeracy development. Consequently, students sensed that their teachers aimed for them to merely meet basic requirements rather than excel, impacting their overall educational growth.
