Set in late 1941 amidst the Japanese invasion of Southeast Asia, the story follows thirteen-year-old Johnny and his friend Tibu as they navigate a perilous situation in Rabaul. Stranded behind enemy lines, Johnny disguises himself as a local boy with the help of a village sorcerer. Together, they orchestrate a daring rescue of Johnny's father from a prison camp and undertake a mission to disrupt Japanese forces. Their bravery and resourcefulness highlight the themes of friendship, identity, and resistance in a time of war.
