In a high school English class, students craft essays featuring mystical creatures tackling contemporary socio-political issues. Among them are Janice Gibbs, a rebellious student with a unique style, and Cody Splunk, an ambitious writer focused on inventing a time machine. After experiencing a breakdown, their teacher, Ms. Freedman, finds herself in an asylum that employs a capitalist approach to therapy, leading to a correspondence with her students that explores creativity and mental health.

A graphic novel about navigating the US medical insurance system and receiving fair and adequate coverage for mental illness. Based on the author's own experience in being treated for bipolar disorder.
