This group sought inspiration from medieval, Renaissance, and Romantic sources, including the works of Victorian poet Alfred Lord Tennyson. Their shared affinity for medieval themes offered a counterpoint to the era's modern challenges, drawing on elements of romance, chivalry, and religious faith, while Tennyson's poetry explored Arthurian legends and Shakespearean drama amidst growing skepticism towards traditional beliefs.
