    Irving Berlin bol ruského pôvodu, naturalizovaný americký skladateľ a textár, jeden z najplodnejších amerických skladateľov všetkých čias. Bol jedným z mála tvorcov z Tin Pan Alley a Broadwaya, ktorí písali hudbu aj texty k svojim piesňam. Hoci sa nikdy nenaučil čítať hudbu nad základnú úroveň, s pomocou asistentov zložil viac ako 3000 piesní, ktoré zanechali nezmazateľnú stopu v americkej hudbe a kultúre. Zložil tiež hudbu k sedemnástim filmom a dvadsiatim jedným divadelným predstaveniam.
