Norwegen, das Land mit den langen hellen Sommertagen und den langen dunklen Wintertagen, bis hin zu fast einem halben Jahr Licht und einem halben Jahr Dunkelheit im hohen Norden des Landes. Aber auch hier kommt nach dem Sommer, was immer kommt: Das nächste Weihnachten steht vor der Tür. Doch bevor das friedliche Fest gefeiert werden kann, gibt es noch jede Menge Aufregung und spannende Abenteuer. Der Frachter Sterne (Stern) kämpft tapfer im Sturm. Zuhause, in dem kleinen norwegischen Fischerdorf, warten Arne und seine Familie und beten für die sichere Rückkehr. Es war die Weihnachtszeit und die Sternje war dafür ausersehen, in jenem Jahr das Weihnachtsschiff zu sein, das auch Weihnachtsgeschenke und andere schöne Dinge mitbringt. Der von Arne stets bewunderte große Bruder Gustav dient als Erster Maat auf dem Schiff. Wie es schließlich gelingt, das Schiff sicher in den Hafen zu bringen, ist ein spannender Teil der Geschichte, neben anderen Abenteuern und Erlebnissen des heranwachsenden Arne. Ein Buch für Kinder und Jugendliche, aber auch eine leichte Lektüre für jung gebliebene Erwachsene. Große, deutliche Schrift - gut zum Vorlesen.
