After living and working in Eurasia and Europe for nine years, Barbara returned home to the US to begin a new phase of international work. Her continued quest to help empower people and to foster sustainable development led her on a whole new set of adventures. Working closely with local people in Georgia, Sri Lanka, Rwanda, Jordan, and Brazil for a few weeks each, she was in awe of the industriousness, warmth, generosity, hospitality and good humor of the people, even under dire circumstances. Life lessons from both positive and negative events, navigating unfamiliar cultures were invaluable. She learned that differences are far surpassed by our shared humanity. Most importantly, she learned that connections with people are the most valuable part of life. For Barbara, the journey was a profound blessing, one she is happy to share.
