Seven Love Letters: Revelation 2 and 3 in the Language of Jesus
    • Someone recently shared that this book serves as a primer for a radical shift in perspective on the Book of Revelation, sparking their appetite for more. It aims to engage both casual readers and Bible students, inviting a transformative experience. The harsh tone of the Greek text is undeniable, but reading the New Testament in Aramaic felt like rediscovering the Bible. The text came alive, revealing God’s burning love in ways previously unseen. While translating chapters 2 and 3 of John's Revelation, the contrast became clear. The often harsh portrayal of Jesus (Rev 2:23) is reinterpreted in the original Aramaic, reflecting the loving, tender, and compassionate Jesus of the Gospels. With joy and reverence, I present the seven letters to the seven churches from Aramaic, the language of Jesus. My hope is that as you meditate on these words, you will experience a cleansing from religiosity, “by the washing of water with the word” (Eph 5:26). May this brief read propel you into a deeper encounter with His love! Sample texts include: “I will come for your sake, immediately…” (Rev 2:16) and “I will make them come and prostrate themselves before your feet…” (Rev 3:9).
