Art Deco Lung is, in effect, a history of America from the late nineteenth century to the latter half of the twentieth as told from the point of view of artist Maxfied Parrish, famous in the early twentieth for his dreamy, luminous paintings. It takes into account the personal history of Parrish, from his confinement at a tuberculosis sanatorium in his early years to his old age in the early 1960s, as recorded in his (largely fictional) secret notebooks. However, the history of science, politics and art recounted are historical facts. www.WapshottPress.org

Freisinger, author of Plato's Breath, winner of the May Swenson Poetry Prize, Utah State University Press Louis Gallo is the founding editor of the now-defunct journals, The Barataria Review and Books: A New Orleans Review.
