Jen jejich vlastní odhodlání bylo tím pomyslným kouskem, který jim umožnil,aby se z Havlíčkova Brodu dostali do světa.

Richard Wagner: Tristan und Isolde. Oper in drei Aufzügen Textbuch – Libretto, entstanden 1854–1859, mit Erstdruck in Leipzig (Breitkopf und Härtel) 1859. Die Uraufführung fand am 10.06.1865 im Königlichen Hof- und Nationaltheater in München statt. Diese vollständige Neuausgabe enthält eine Biographie des Autors und wurde von Karl-Maria Guth herausgegeben (Berlin 2015). Die Textgrundlage stammt aus Richard Wagner: Die Musikdramen, mit einem Vorwort von Joachim Kaiser (Hamburg: Hoffmann und Campe, 1971). Die Paginierung dieser Ausgabe wird in der Neuausgabe zeilengenau als Marginalie mitgeführt. Das Cover stammt von Thomas Schultz-Overhage und verwendet ein Bild von John William Waterhouse, Tristan und Isolde, 1916. Richard Wagner, 1813 in Leipzig als neuntes Kind eines Polizisten geboren, wurde eine prägende Figur der Musik des 19. Jahrhunderts. Sein bewegtes Leben führte ihn vor politischer Verfolgung und Gläubigern an verschiedene Orte wie Königsberg, Riga, London, Paris und die Schweiz, bis er schließlich in Bayreuth ankam, das untrennbar mit seinem Namen verbunden ist. Trotz finanzieller Schwierigkeiten betrachtete Wagner seine Schulden als »lächerlich« im Vergleich zu seinen »Aktiva«. Seine Wirkung auf die nachfolgende Musik ist einzigartig, doch bleibt er eine umstrittene Figur, insbesondere aufgrund seiner antisemitischen Schrift »Das Judenthum in der Musik«, die dem Nationalsozialismus Vorschub leistete.
