Jakub Böhme bol nemecký kresťanský mystik a teológ, považovaný za originálneho mysliteľa v luteránskej tradícii. Jeho prvé dielo spôsobilo veľký škandál, čo svedčí o provokatívnej povahe jeho myšlienok. Böhme sa venoval hlbokým teologickým a filozofickým otázkam, pričom jeho prístup k spiritualite bol inovatívny a vplyvný.
Jacob Böhme (1575–1624) patří bez nadsázky k nejoriginálnějším myslitelům duchovních dějin Evropy. Cesta ke Kristu spolu s dalšími texty, které přináší tento svazek, uvádí schůdnou cestou do Böhmova ideového světa.
