Few politicians, dead or alive, can be credited with accomplishing all that Mujib did. Born into an ordinary family, he worked his way up throughout his political career, without any financial or political support, driven by personal determination and commitment. Mujib showed himself to be a tenacious and tactical statesman, capable of strategically navigating highly complex diplomatic situations. It was a road that led, ultimately, to him becoming the first leader of his homeland, and, in effect, founding the new state of Bangladesh.
