They have nine children, each named after colors from their favorite poems. As historical events unfold, their family is split: some flee to America or Hong Kong to escape communism, others align with revolutionaries, and a few face tragic fates. The narrative explores themes of love, family bonds, and the impact of historical upheaval on personal lives.
