Digital Signal and Image Processing in Jagiellonian Positron Emission Tomography

Parametre

Viac o knihe

The dissertation of Lech Raczyński presents innovative data processing algorithms for the Jagiellonian PET (J-PET) scanner, highlighting original methods for signal and image reconstruction. The development of these algorithms is a significant achievement, utilizing a complex methodology to determine positions based on the propagation time of light pulses in long plastic scintillators. The author employs modern data processing techniques, including compressive sensing theory and total variation regularization, evaluated through both experimental and simulation data from the J-PET scanner. This work makes a vital contribution to the field of PET, with results that are essential for the success of the J-PET project. Lech Raczyński graduated from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology at the Warsaw University of Technology, focusing on compressed acquisition methods, data processing, artificial intelligence, and probabilistic mathematics, particularly in medical applications. Since 2012, he has been part of a group at the National Centre for Nuclear Research, collaborating with Jagiellonian University on the development of a modern Positron Emission Tomography device, concentrating on new concepts and techniques for signal and image processing.
