Exploring the connection between actinidic archaea and human health, this work delves into how these microorganisms relate to global warming and diseases like type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular issues. It highlights the role of mitochondrial cytochrome P450 enzymes in steroid synthesis and the conversion of archaeal RNA viroids into mitochondrial DNA. This process enables the formation of supermitochondria, which can produce digoxin, regulate sodium-calcium exchange, and influence mitochondrial function. Ultimately, it suggests that mitochondrial dysfunction may contribute to metabolic syndrome.
