Focusing on the evolution of the state's political and economic role in Europe since the 1970s, this study examines the impact of neoliberal policies and the integration process on the continent. It emphasizes the austerity measures imposed by the Troika in response to the 2008 global crisis, particularly in peripheral EU nations. The analysis extends to Brazil, exploring how similar austerity guidelines exacerbate social inequality and undermine rights during its ongoing crisis.
