Germany's struggle to reduce CO2 emissions is heavily linked to its 88.4% reliance on fossil fuels. Research reveals an intermediate inverse correlation (r=-0.725) between CO2 emissions and vehicle usage. Projections from 2024 to 2030 indicate a decrease in emissions from 668.2 Mt to 607.0 Mt, yet this trajectory still jeopardizes global environmental goals aimed at limiting temperature rise to below 1.5 ºC. The findings underscore the urgency of addressing fossil fuel dependence to meet climate targets effectively.
